Animals have played a crucial role in the lives of humans for thousands of years, and ensuring they are happy and healthy has become a sort of responsibility for us. Veterinary Science deals with the causes, identification (diagnosis), treatment and healing of the different sort of diseases of animals. The aim of B. V. Sc. & A.H. program is to train skilled and competent manpower in the area of livestock health, production and management.
The curriculum has been designed to integrate basic, production and management, practical and clinical subjects to impart both extensive and intensive knowledge in veterinary clinical sciences, animal breeding, livestock production and management. The topic generally includes the learning of animal physiology and gathering ideas for treating, curing as well as preventing diseases among animals. The basic principles of veterinary science are similar to that of medical science. On other hand, animal husbandry is concerned with the study of breeding, rearing and caring of farm animals relating with economics.
Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc & A.H.) program is currently offered by three universities in Nepal. They are Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science under Tribhuvan University (TU), Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU) of Rampur, Chitwan and Himalayan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (HICAST) of Kathmandu under Purbanchal University. The B.V.Sc. & A.H. is a 5 year program spreading over 10 semesters. The total course is of 221 credit hours. Up to ninth semester, students are given comprehensive knowledge of theoretical, practical and technical aspects of veterinary clinical sciences, animal breeding, livestock production, management etc. In the 10th semester, to make student fully acquainted with real life experience, there is a compulsory provision of internship.

(2) Rampur Campus, Chitwan.
(3) HICAST, Kathmandu.
Fee structure:
TU and AFU are government colleges for Veterinary whereas HICAST is private institute established in 2000 AD. Deserving students who are able to crack entrance exams successfully of TU and AFU will get chance to study in Merit, IDF or ANNEX quotas respectively in accordance of their ranks.
In TU, the average fee in IDF quota is 3.5 lacks (approx) and in ANNEX quota is 4.5 lacks (approx) respectively.
Objectives:
The objectives of B.V.Sc & A.H are as follows:
1) The course intends to endow opportunity for the students to gain expertise for getting employment as a specialist of veterinary medicine and animal husbandry.
2) The course aims to prepare qualified and efficient graduate students capable of working and uplifting the livestock industry and contribute in economic development and growth of the sector.
3) The course intends to generate passion in students to continue their further study and research in the field of veterinary science and animal husbandry and continue the professional development.
Admission Requirements / Eligibility:
He/ She should have passed proficiency level (plus two or I.Sc.) in science stream from TU or University/ board/ Institution accepted by TU. Or
He/ She should have studied I.Sc. Ag. with at least 100 full marks English, Biology, Chemistry and at least 50 full marks Math and Physics with 50% in aggregate.
Entrance examination system of TU:
Entrance exam comprises of Multiple Choice Objective Type questions.The questions are asked from English (15), Chemistry (15), Physics (15), Botany (15), Mathematics (15), and Zoology (15), General Science (Agriculture Science/Animal Health Science)/GK (10). And also,
- ) The time duration of the exam is 1:30 hours.

- ) The merit list is prepared bases on the marks of the entrance exam.
Can I Join Bvsc or A.H By Payment Without Giving Entrance Exam?
